Things are finally starting to pick up on the inventory reduction process. Old books and video games are starting to sell on Amazon, and I finally got off my rump to start the process of selling off my massive vintage toy collection.
For those possibly interested, check out this weeks eBay auctions.
In response to an earlier comment from Plungerhoo aka BrerSkwerl, who for lack of a better term called me out as a hypocrite for selling my old toys, I shall disagree. For one, my baseball card collection has a monumental personal worth to me, and I am not in the process of monetizing my collection. I'm more interested in thinning it out by trading cards to fellow collectors. If I can obtain what I need/want for what I already have, then so be it. As my wife told me the other night, go for quality, not quantity.
Anyways, I know for a fact Hoo is just pulling my leg and giving me grief, as we are friends, but it got me thinking about the toys. He said I should keep them for my kids, but to me, they don't have much sentamental value to me, plus they take up uber space. If I can sell them on eBay, which is my preferred free market venue, then I should sell them. If it helps another collector get what they are after, then I am happy to provide that service. True, it never hurts to get extra bank roll for something you no longer need/want, but I hardly feel it makes me a hypocrite. Alas, I am keeping the toys that were important to me, like my old PlayMobil sets, and my Brigade of Army Men...
Does anyone disagree?
PS - I recently won a contest on Bad Wax, so at least I will have that pack break to show on the next post.

I remember Xmas '77.... I wanted that land speeder out of the Sears catalogue soooooo bad. It's all I talked about.
I didn't get it.
and, as an older boy still living in Canada, I won't get it now, either.
Just as well. The wife would not approve. I'd have to hide it.
Sorry to imply any suggestion that you were a hypocrite (and I definitely hope I didn't offend/cross any line), like you said, I was just trying to understand better how/why you ended up with the toys...
Again, I'm just guessing, b/c you've filled in some/most of the details in this blog-isode, but you've probably always had the cards at least in your immediate memory of where they were at all times, if not directly in the place where you lived, b/c like you said, they had senimental/emotional value to you... The toys, on the other hand, you might have known existed, but they probably stayed at/with your parents, who might have given them to you in some grand cleanout of their own, in a "these are yours, but we kept them, b/c we thought you might want them" way...
That's why I asked why you were selling the toys, b/c it wasn't clear to me that you weren't attached to all of the toys... I guess I didn't realize how many toys you're talking about either...I've got my own box of toys/computer games/matchbox cars (actually, the matchbox cars are at my apt., b/c they do have emotional/memory value to me...) still sitting in my gran's basement (I moved the remnants there when my 'rents gave me the storage ultimatum... ;), that if Granny (in her current cleaning frenzy) decided to throw them away, it'd sting just a hair, but I wouldn't grouse too bad, b/c I'd taken the risk of leaving them there... ;) I figured a similar scenario existed in where your toys have/had been... And, I'm definitely much like you in regards to this topic, so when I was getting you to think, obviously I was getting myself to also...
So, I for one support you in all of your efforts! ;) Now, my next question is... (Wait for it...) (Yeah, I know now I'm being a naggin' b#@!%... And I think I know the answer with a very fair (94.3%) certainty, BUT I have to pull your leg a little more, since you take it pretty well... ;) ) Tobs Thursday?! ;)
