With 10 games to go, the Dodgers were 11-11, and had a four game lead over the 7-15 Padres. The Dodgers went 2-7 in the last nine and watched their lead evaporate as the Padres went 7-3 in the final 10 games.
Last night the Padres clinched a first round victory by defeating the lowly Marlins, as the Dodgers were bitten by the Diamondbacks. The best the Dodgers can do is tie the Padres at 14-18, but the tie-breaker falls San Diego's way, since the Padres have a 4-2 head to head record against the Dodgers.
Just breaks my heart ;-)
PS - The White Sox are still scrappin' Two wins and they're in!
